M4L Audio Plug-in

Vowel Generator is an audio effector that converts an input sound signal into vowels through formant spectrum resonance. Via preset mode, the user can implement continuous changes between vowels and set three vowels as presets. This plugin was used in Chant, where it enables real-time vocal–instrumental timbral hybridization.

Formant has three elements (Frequency, Amplitude, and bandwidth); each value is stored as a multi-slider type value. Interpolation between formant data creates a continuous change in vowel sound.

The method for assigning vowels to faders in the Vowel Generator is as follows

1 Switch the Mode Select to set up mode.

2 Select the vowel you wish to store.

3 Press the store button corresponding to the desired position for saving the vowel.

4 Repeat the same process to save vowels in up to three store slots.

5 Finally, press the start button and adjust the other parameter knobs to achieve your desired sound.
